Warington Henry Smyth Powell (later Baden Powell)

Hijo del Reverendo y matemático Baden Powell, hermano mayor de B.P. Nació el 3 de febrero de 1847. Fue el hermano mayor de BP.

He was son of Rev. and mathematician Baden Powell, brother of BP He was born on February 3, 1847. He was BP's older brother.

Tras la muerte del padre todos sus hijos incluyeron en el apellido el nombre como homenaje a él, pasando de ser “Powell” a “Baden-Powell”.

After his father's death all his children included in the surname the name as a tribute to him, from being "Powell" to "Baden-Powell"

Su educación fue en el colegio St Paul's se graduó en 1857

His education was at St Paul's school, where he graduated in 1857.

Warington siempre fue un apasionado de los barcos especialmente de los botes pequeños. Muy pronto obtuvo el título de Master Mariner y comisionado como Teniente en la reserva de la Marina Real.

Warington always been passionate about boats especially small boats. Early in his career qualified as Master Mariner and was commissioned as a Lieutenant at the Royal Navy Reserve.

En 1871 con 24 años de edad realizó una ruta marina en un bote por el Mar Báltico, haciendo paradas en los siguientes países Alemania, Dinamarca, y Suecia. La ruta aparece descrita en el siguiente libro, Canoe Travelling: Log of a Cruise on the Baltic, and Practical Hints on Building and Fitting Canoes (London: Smith, Elder, 1871)

In 1871 at the age of 24 years he sailed on a boat on route around the Baltic Sea, with stops in the following countries: Germany, Denmark and Sweden. The route is described in his book, Canoe Travelling: Log of a Cruise on the Baltic, and Practical Hints on Building and Fitting Canoes published in 1871.

En 1874 Warington fue uno de los miembros y promotores en la creación de la “Royal Canoe Club”.

In 1874 Warington was one of the founders members and supporters of the Royal Canoe Club.

Fue elegido como miembro de la “Royal Geographic Society” (F.R.G.S.).

He was elected as a member of the Royal Geographic Society (FRGS).

Licenciado en Derecho, en 1876 ejerció de Abogado en “The Honourable Society of the Inner Temple” que es una de las cuatro Inns of Court (asociaciones profesionales de bogados y jueces) en Londres. También fue miembro del Colegios de Abogados Admiralty (Admiralty Bar)

He also had a Law Degree, in 1876 he was called as a lawyer in "The Honourable Society of the Inner Temple is one of the four Inns of Court (bogados professional associations and judges) in London. He was also a member of the Admiralty Bar.

Fue miembro de The Shipwrights' Company, delegado del Institute of Naval Architects Council y miembro de Yacht Racing Association y de Athenaeum Club.

Como petición de BP en 1910 fundó y agrego la sección de scouts marinos, quedando en este mismo año organizada oficialmente. En este mismo año publico el manual en el cual se explica el funcionamiento del Escultismo Marino. Sea Scouting and Seamanship for Boys (Glasgow: Brown, Son & Ferguson, 1910)

BP asked to his brother Warrington to found and head up the first specilized branch of the Boys Scouts, in 1910 Sea Scout was firmly organized. In the same year published the manual which explains the operation of Sea Scouting. Sea Scouting and Seamanship for Boys (Glasgow: Brown, Son & Ferguson, 1910)En 1913 se caso con Cicely Farmer.

El 24 de abril de 1921 murió a la edad de 74 años.
